Danie van Tonder

Co-founder and CEO

Starting in Finance at University of Pretoria with a B Comm (Hons) in Accounting, Danie spent 15 years at Absa as Credit Derivative Structurer, Product Controller and later led the Digital Products team.

Danie co-founded Fintec Labs and appointed as CEO in 2015.

Ruaan Botha

COO

Ruaan studied B Comm Informatics and Information Science at University of Pretoria. He then became highly skilled at execution of tech delivery at Standard Bank, RMB and Absa.

After focussing on digital product design at MMI and Old Mutual, Ruaan joined Fintec in 2017 and co-founded Fintec Accelerator.

Deon Nobrega

Product Control

Deon holds a B Eng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at University of Johannes- burg, after which he joined Investec and later Absa – both at which he implemented client-facing digital products. After a stint as a FX trader, Deon joined the Digital Products team.

Deon joined Fintec in 2016.

Willem van Zyl

Co-Founder and Chief Technologist

After studying Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Tshwane University of Technology. Willem worked at Absa for 12 years where he built some of the largest payment- and workflow platforms in South Africa. After honing his skills being the Architect for Payments, he was part of the Digital Products team.

Willem co-founded Fintec Labs in 2015.

Chris Kotze

Non-Executive Chairman

Chris holds a Doctorate in Economics at University of Johannesburg.

His 27 years banking experience includes being the CEO of both FirstRand’s and Absa’s Global Transactional Services.

Chris now holds various directorships and joined Fintec as Chairman in 2016.

Etienne Scholtz

Financial Control

Etienne completed B Comm Accounting at University of Johannesburg.

After 12 years of Corporate and Investment Banking experience at Absa, Etienne tried his hand at vineyard farming and wine making.

Etienne joined Fintec in 2016 and co-founded Fintec Spaces.
